The Young Leaders Group is about to embark on its third year. The
past two years have been a tremendous success as we have established
a working platform of social and professional development events ranging
from Partnership Forums and case studies to quarterly happy hours.
We have also grown to become the largest YLG program in the ULI District
Council Program.
After receiving feedback from YLG members, the YLG Executive Committee
has outlined several goals for the 2005-2006 year. Many people have
expressed that they lack full comprehension of ULI's mission, and the
range of programs that the organization offers. YLG hopes to disseminate
better information about this organization, and in turn, offer you
better opportunities to become more involved. YLG will continue to
provide Partnership Forum and case study programs and is also embarking
on plans to give back to the community. Currently, YLG is organizing
support for Habitat for Humanity. Finally, our continuing goal remains
keeping you all involved. YLG has attracted members from all areas
of the real estate industry, including planning and development, finance,
law, and non-profit, and networking with this range of professionals
provides a greater perspective of the real estate industry that individual
members might otherwise lack. YLG hopes to offer that ongoing broad
perspective to all its members who choose to participate.
With that, we're reprinting the YLG mission statement as a reminder
of YLG's purpose:
"The mission of ULI Los Angeles Young Leaders Group is
to increase the involvement and influence of young real estate
professionals in ULI by connecting tomorrow's real estate leaders
with each other and with the leaders of today through educational
and professional programs, events, and networking opportunities
which ULI has to offer."
Thanks everyone for your involvement and support over the past year.
Here's to a successful 2005-2006!

Mark Your Calendar: September 21
The Figueroa Corridor - Case Study of a District's Reemergence
The Figueroa Corridor, which is an area at the forefront of
urban revitalization, is building upon greater Downtown's architectural
and cultural history. Using the University of Southern California
as its anchor, both public and private investment are revitalizing
the area with the development of upscale multifamily housing,
cultural centers, and historic preservation projects. This
case study will examine the intersection of the old with the
new, and the driving forces behind the reemergence of one of
downtown LA's hidden treasures.
September 21, 2005,
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, USC Davidson Executive Conference Center.
